Payment Terms

1. Introduction

These Payment Terms (the “Payment Terms”) govern all payments made through our website www.frinque.shop (the “Site”) operated by Frinque(“we,” “us,” “our”). They form an integral part of our Terms of Service.

By placing an order and completing a payment transaction on our Site, you agree to be bound by these Payment Terms. For consumers located in Italy, your mandatory rights under Italian Legislative Decree No. 206/2005 (Consumer Code) and Legislative Decree No. 11/2010 (implementing the EU Payment Services Directive) remain unaffected.


2. Accepted Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods through our Shopify-secured checkout:

Note: Availability of specific payment methods may vary depending on your location and the total order amount. All payment methods listed above are displayed at checkout.


3. Payment Processing – General Rules

Payment due date: Full payment is due at the time of checkout unless otherwise agreed in writing (e.g., for wholesale or B2B customers). Your order will not be processed or shipped until we receive cleared funds (or a valid payment authorization).

Currency: All transactions are processed in Euro (€). If your payment method is denominated in another currency, your bank or payment provider may apply currency conversion fees. We are not responsible for such fees.

Payment security: All payment transactions on our Site are encrypted using SSL/TLS technology (TLS 1.2 or higher). We do not store full payment card details on our servers. Our payment processors are PCI DSS Level 1 compliant – the highest level of security certification in the payment industry.

Payment authorization: By providing a payment method, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are authorized to use that payment method

  • The information you provide (card number, expiration date, CVV, billing address) is accurate and complete

  • Sufficient funds are available to cover the transaction


4. Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) – PSD2 Compliance

As required by the EU Revised Directive on Payment Services (PSD2, Directive (EU) 2015/2366) as implemented in Italy by Legislative Decree No. 11/2010, we enforce Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) for all electronic payment transactions.

What is SCA? SCA requires at least two independent authentication factors from the following categories:

  • Knowledge – something only you know (e.g., password, PIN)

  • Possession – something only you have (e.g., mobile phone, hardware token, card reader)

  • Inherence – something you are (e.g., fingerprint, facial recognition)

How it works in practice: Depending on your payment method and bank, you may be prompted to:

  • Enter a one-time passcode (OTP) sent to your mobile phone via SMS

  • Approve the transaction through your bank’s mobile app

  • Use biometric verification (fingerprint or face ID)

  • Enter a code generated by a physical card reader

Exemptions from SCA: SCA may not be required for:

  • Low-value transactions (under €30) – but after five such transactions or cumulative €100, SCA will be triggered

  • Recurring subscriptions (if you have already authenticated the first transaction)

  • Transactions with trusted beneficiaries (merchants you have whitelisted with your bank)

If SCA fails: If your bank rejects the authentication, the transaction will be declined. Please contact your bank or try a different payment method.


5. Credit and Debit Card Payments

Processing: When you pay by credit or debit card:

  1. We request authorization from your card issuer for the full order amount

  2. Your card may show a pending authorization hold (temporary hold)

  3. Your card is charged at the time your order is confirmed (Order Confirmation email sent)

  4. For pre-orders, we may charge your card at the time of order, at the time of shipment, or split the charge as disclosed on the product page

3D Secure: We support 3D Secure (Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCode, American Express SafeKey). Your card issuer may require you to complete an additional authentication step. If you cannot complete 3D Secure authentication, we cannot process your card payment.

Declined transactions: If your card is declined, please:

  • Check that you entered the correct card number, expiration date, and CVV

  • Ensure your card has sufficient available credit or funds

  • Contact your card issuer to confirm there are no blocks on internet transactions

  • Try a different payment method


6. PayPal Payments

Process: When you select PayPal at checkout:

  1. You will be redirected to the PayPal website

  2. Log into your PayPal account (or pay as a guest with a credit card)

  3. Review and confirm the payment amount

  4. Upon completion, you will be redirected back to our Site

PayPal account required? No – PayPal allows guest checkout using a credit card without creating a PayPal account, subject to PayPal’s terms.

Billing agreement (reference transactions): For subscriptions or future purchases, you may authorize a billing agreement. This allows us to charge your PayPal account for future orders without re-authentication. You may cancel any billing agreement directly from your PayPal account settings.

PayPal Buyer Protection: PayPal offers its own Buyer Protection program. Please refer to PayPal’s terms for eligibility and claim procedures. Our separate return and refund policy also applies.


7. Bank Transfer (Bonifico Bancario) – Italy/EU Only

Availability: Available to customers with a bank account in Italy or another SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) country.

How to pay by bank transfer:

  1. Select “Bank Transfer” at checkout

  2. You will receive an Order Hold Email with our bank account details

  3. Transfer the exact amount using the provided order reference number (causale)

  4. Email us a copy of the transfer receipt (optional but recommended) to hello@frinque.shop


Payment deadline: Bank transfer payments must be completed within 5 calendar days of placing the order. If we do not receive cleared funds within this period, your order will be automatically cancelled. You may place a new order at any time.

Order processing: We will process your order for shipment only after the funds have been credited to our bank account. This typically takes 1–3 business days for SEPA transfers (longer for non-SEPA or currency conversions).

Additional bank fees: You may be charged transfer fees by your bank. We do not cover such fees. Please ensure the transfer amount equals the full order amount (i.e., the amount we receive may be less if your bank deducts fees).


8. Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) – Klarna / Scalapay / Clearpay

We may offer installment payment options through third-party BNPL providers. When you select a BNPL option at checkout:

  • Separate agreement: The BNPL provider (not us) performs a credit check and extends credit to you. You enter into a separate payment agreement with that provider.

  • Late fees: The BNPL provider may charge late payment fees if you miss scheduled installments.

  • Returns and refunds: If you return all or part of your order, the BNPL provider will adjust your payment schedule or credit your account accordingly. We will inform them of the refund amount.

  • Credit impact: BNPL services may affect your credit score depending on the provider’s reporting practices.

We do not control BNPL provider terms. Please review the provider’s terms carefully before selecting this payment method.


9. Digital Wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shopify Pay)

Apple Pay: Available on iOS and macOS devices using Safari. Authentication is performed via Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode. Your actual card number is not shared with us – Apple Pay provides a device-specific account number.

Google Pay: Available on Android devices. Authentication via fingerprint, PIN, or pattern. Like Apple Pay, Google Pay does not share your actual card number with us.

Shopify Pay: If you have previously purchased from us, Shopify may store your payment information (with your consent) allowing you to checkout with one click. Shopify Pay uses tokenization for security.

Limitations: Digital wallet availability depends on your device, browser, and card issuer. Not all cards are supported.


10. Gift Cards, Store Credit, and Discount Codes

Gift cards:

  • Gift cards purchased from our store are denominated in Euro (€)

  • They have no expiration date (unless disclosed at purchase)

  • They may be used for any product on our Site

  • They are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash except as required by Italian law

  • If a gift card does not cover the full order amount, the balance must be paid using another accepted payment method

Store credit:

  • Store credit may be issued for returned items or as compensation for customer service issues

  • Store credit is subject to the same terms as gift cards above

Discount codes (coupons):

  • Discount codes must be entered at checkout before completing payment

  • Only one discount code may be used per order (unless otherwise stated)

  • Discount codes cannot be applied retroactively to completed orders

  • Some products or categories may be excluded from discount offers – see code terms


11. Recurring Payments and Subscriptions

If you purchase a subscription product (e.g., monthly box, recurring consumables), the following additional terms apply:

Billing frequency: As stated on the product page (e.g., monthly, every 3 months).

Payment authorization: By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your selected payment method automatically at the beginning of each billing cycle.

Price changes: If we increase the subscription price, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance. You may cancel before the price change takes effect.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard or by emailing us. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle. No partial refunds for the current cycle.

Failed payments: If a recurring payment fails, we will attempt to charge your payment method again after 3 days. After two failed attempts, your subscription will be automatically cancelled. You will receive email notifications of any payment failures.

Right of withdrawal for subscriptions: The 14-day withdrawal period applies to the first subscription payment. After you have received the first product, subsequent payments are not subject to withdrawal (but you may cancel future payments by cancelling the subscription).


12. Payment Declines, Failures, and Retries



Scenario What Happens
Authorization declined Your order will not be processed. You will be prompted to use a different payment method. No charge is made to your card.
Authorization hold but no capture Some banks show a temporary “pending” charge. This is not an actual charge and will drop off within 3–10 business days.
Payment fails after order confirmation Extremely rare. If this occurs, we will notify you immediately. You must provide a valid payment method within 3 business days or your order will be cancelled.
Chargeback initiated by you We will suspend your account and investigate. If the chargeback is invalid, we reserve the right to pursue collection of the debt. You also agree to pay any chargeback fees imposed on us.

13. Refunds and Reimbursements

Refunds are processed in accordance with our Return and Refund Policy and the 14‑day right of withdrawal (for consumers).

Refund timeframes:

  • Once we approve a refund, we will initiate the transaction within 14 days (or earlier as required by law)

  • The time for the refund to appear in your account depends on your bank:

    • Credit/debit card: 3–10 business days

    • PayPal: 1–3 business days

    • Bank transfer: 5–10 business days

    • BNPL (Klarna/Scalapay etc.): Refund is processed through the BNPL provider – see their terms

Partial refunds: We may issue partial refunds for:

  • Returned items where the packaging is damaged or the product shows signs of use beyond what is permitted

  • Promotional discounts applied only to part of an order

  • Price adjustments under a price-match guarantee (if offered)

Refund method: We refund using the same payment method you used originally. If that payment method is no longer valid (e.g., expired card), please contact us to arrange an alternative.


14. Pricing, Taxes, and Fees

All prices displayed on our Site are in Euro (€) and include Italian VAT (Value Added Tax) at the applicable rate.

VAT for EU customers (non-Italy): If you are a business with a valid EU VAT number, you may enter it at checkout. If validated, VAT will be removed (reverse charge). You are responsible for accounting for VAT in your own country.

VAT for non-EU customers: If you are shipping outside the EU, VAT is not charged on the product price. However, you are responsible for any import duties, customs fees, and local taxes (VAT/GST) imposed by your country. See our Shipping Policy for details.

No hidden fees: We do not add surcharges for credit card payments, PayPal, or other payment methods. Any fees charged by your bank (e.g., foreign transaction fees) are your responsibility.


15. Payment Disputes and Complaints

If you believe an error has been made in processing your payment:

  1. Contact us immediately at hello@frinque.shop

  2. Provide your order number and a clear description of the issue

  3. We will investigate and respond within 5 business days

Chargebacks: Before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer, please contact us first. Many issues (e.g., order delays, minor defects) can be resolved directly without a chargeback. Unnecessary chargebacks may result in your account being suspended and you being responsible for our chargeback defense fees.

Complaint to the Bank of Italy: If we are unable to resolve your payment dispute, and the issue relates to the execution of a payment transaction, you may file a complaint with the Bank of Italy (Banca d’Italia) – the competent authority for payment services oversight in Italy.


16. Security and Fraud Prevention

We take payment fraud seriously. To protect you and us, we may:

  • Use automated fraud detection tools (provided by Shopify or our payment processors)

  • Manually review orders flagged as high-risk

  • Request additional verification (e.g., photo ID, proof of address, confirmation of card ownership)

  • Cancel orders that appear fraudulent without prior notice

Your responsibilities:

  • Keep your payment credentials secure

  • Do not share your card details or account login with others

  • Report any unauthorized use of your payment method to your bank immediately

We will never ask you for:

  • Your full PIN or password (other than at checkout through the normal process)

  • Your CVV/CVC code outside of the checkout page

  • Remote access to your computer or device


17. Changes to These Payment Terms

We may update these Payment Terms from time to time. Changes become effective when posted on this page, with the “Last updated” date revised.

Material changes: For significant changes (e.g., discontinuation of a payment method, changes to SCA requirements), we will notify you by email (if you have an account) and/or by a prominent notice on our Site before the change takes effect.

Your continued use of our Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Payment Terms.
